What else is new?

January 30, 2017 by Reno

We’ve resurrected a number of features and articles from past years, including Archives, which is a collection of front page suggestions for things you might find interesting. (After a month or so, these little blurbs are moved off the front page to make room for new ones.)

Also, we’ve brought back the Haynes Legacy section, that is, we’ve restyled all the pages to make them presentable. And there are new editions of Train Shooters, Baby Week in Cliffside and the 1923 Special Edition of the Sun. The latter is a comprehensive story of Cliffside.

And, from time to time, we bring back improved editions of Photo Galleries. Check this section often for new additions.

That is all.

The Cliffside Clock Tower

Our town clock was installed in 1920, and for over half a century tolled the quarter hours from atop the R. R. Haynes Memorial Building. When the building was razed in the late 1970s this new tower for the old timepiece was erected on the site of Mr. Haynes' original Cliffside home. Although the property of the county, the Cliffside Historical Society has assumed responsibility for maintaining this beloved antique.
