This little building on S. Main Street is what stood between us and cholera, and a whole host of other diseases we might have contracted had we drunk the river water directly from the source. Called the “filtering plant,” it was built about 1926 and had a 65,000-gallon reservoir.
Few ever saw inside the “plant,” but here’s your chance, in this slide show by James L. Harris.
