The Principal

Picture contributor: Linda Webster Poteat

Principal H. C. Beatty at his desk in his office in Cliffside School. A big clunky intercom system sits on the end of his desk. Behind him is a wooden file cabinet with about a dozen drawers of various sizes, which probably has been there since the 1920s.
The Principal

The control center of Cliffside School on November 20, 1957, with Principal H.C. Beatty firmly in charge. He’d been at Cliffside for 27 years, and looks tired, but he’ll serve another dozen years before retirement.

It was decidedly lo-tech; not a computer in sight. The most modern thing in the room was the ball-point pen.
