Cutie Pie

Picture contributor: Revealed below

Little girl on steps with her dolly.

It was a chilly day in the Christmas season of 1917, so they dressed their darling child in her cutest outfit, including her high button shoes. The toboggan might have been a gift from her grandma, but Santa surely brought the dolly.

Remember when people leaned their rocking chairs against the wall—it was more dignified than letting them sit just any which way. Remember when we kept rockers on our porches? Remember when we had porches? And when things that appeared to be wooden were made of actual wood? What a difference a century makes.

Can you identify the little girl? She’s all grown up now, of course—in her 90s, in fact—and many of you know and love her. She’s Hazel Haynes Bridges.
