Political rally

Cliffside was always a hotbed of political activity. One time my daddy took me to Shelby to show me a Republican. Here is one of the larger Democratic rallies held in Cliffside.

Trolling for voters

This vast throng gathered in 1968 across from the mill office. L to R: Wayne Smith (aboard the donkey), Max Humphries, Charles “Red” Humphries (in white shirt), June Dover, John Earley. John looks like he’s heading to the house; too much politics for one day.
