Ad for the 1938 Cleveland County Fair
Pick up your copy of the Forest City Courier for Thursday, Sept. 22, 1938, and turn to page eight. It’s like opening the largest package under the tree on Christmas morning. The fair is coming! It was the biggest county fair in America; The Saturday Evening Post said so. In those innocent years before we were distracted by a horrible world war, and then permanently intoxicated by television, we were all completely enthralled by the sights and sounds at the fairground in Shelby.
