Ad for the 1938 Cleveland County Fair

Pick up your copy of the Forest City Courier for Thursday, Sept. 22, 1938, and turn to page eight. It’s like opening the largest package under the tree on Christmas morning. The fair is coming! It was the biggest county fair in America; The Saturday Evening Post said so. In those innocent years before we were distracted by a horrible world war, and then permanently intoxicated by television, we were all completely enthralled by the sights and sounds at the fairground in Shelby.

The Grandest Show in the Southeast--a variety of entertainment for every taste, every age. The great Cleveland County Fair at Shelby! Ad continue with a lineup of exciting attractions to be held in the Fair's 5-day run, plus 19 rides and 22 shows!

From a copy of the Forest City Courier provided by James Harris.
