Desk Thermometer Giveaway

Above an old timey drawing of a mother and daughter before the fireplace, is the label: C. P. Hamrick. Dry goods, notions, shoes. Fancy groceries & fertilizers. Furniture and coal. Cliffside, N. C.

In a dusty box filled with this and that, we found this old treasure: A desk set that includes a thermometer, images of the season and an advertisement for C. P. Hamrick’s store. Its vintage is around 1940 or ’41. It has a little prop on the back that swings out so that it will stand on your desk or table. One was given to every customer, one per family. The thermometer still works after all these years.
