Cliffside, Sept. 20. — Hello friends. The fall of the year is here and the nights and mornings are getting cooler. Soon all the people will build roaring fires to sit by. Getting up on a cold morning and looking out upon a world covered with a sparkling frost gives you a new zest for living. Makes you want to start your life all over in the new and live up to it.
Mr. Arthur Rhymer was taken to the Rutherford Hospital this morning (Monday). His condition was not learned at this writing.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mashburn visited Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Mashburn, Sunday afternoon.
Misses Louise Keeter and Lorene Bailey, of near here, were the week-end guest of Misses Virginia and Elizabeth Winn.
Mr. J. J. Crowe and children, of Forest City, were the week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Crowe
Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Nanney were the Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dee Nanney, of Shelby.
Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Womack and daughter [daughters] Gertrude and Nellie of Cliffside and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hill and daughter Florence and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Harris and little son Robert of Avondale, visited Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Plemmons at Gaffney, Sunday afternoon.
Miss Gladys McDaniel and Mrs. R. L. Pruett returned home from the Rutherford Hospital Sunday. Both are improving.
The Judson Union of the B. T. U. enjoyed a weiner [wiener] roast on last Friday. Those enjoying the outing were Lyndall Clayton, Geraldine McCurry, Myrtle Mashburn, Nellie Crowe, Blanche Devinney, Theron McDaniel, Amarel [Amiel] Blanton, Frank Mashburn, “Jobie” Biggerstaff, Andrew Devinney, and Lester Condrey.
Mr. Sam Harlick, of Shelby was visiting here Saturday afternoon, trying to reorganize the woodman [Woodman] Lodge.
Mr. and Mrs. Ishmael White and little daughter Barbara spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Bridges.
Mr. Roy Guffey is ill at this writing.
