The Twin Reporters

Twin Reporters, Aug. 19, 1937

From The Courier, Aug 19, 1937

Cliffside, Aug.16. — Hello, friends. This writing business seems to be lagging behind just a little. Just writing news is a job in itself without having three or four more to keep up. But we are hoping the Cliffside News is kept up for the news that is sent from the surrounding towns is news to everybody.

Forest City attracts hundreds of people every Saturday night. We wonder why this is. Many reasons will answer that question, though. Extra attention is given to the traffic by the officers of Forest City as there seems to be quite a lot of confusion in getting through. Forest City is a favorite town of the Twin Reporters.

Fair time, and it is drawing nearer. We hope Rutherford Fair does credit to the county.

The Young Men’s Bible class of Cliffside Baptist church spent a delightful week-end at Bat Cave.

Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Gold of State Line were visitors here Sunday.

Mrs. J. C. Hames has returned from a stay at Saluda.

Mrs. R. L. Pruitt is improving after a stay at Rutherford Hospital.

Mrs. R. L. Wade and Mr. and Mrs. Dorsey Wade and child from Canton, Ga., are visiting Mrs. T. D. Rudisill. The Wade family formerly lived in Cliffside. Their many friends here were glad to see them.

Mr. Craig Watkins is home for a few weeks to see his parents, who have been ill.

Mrs. J. M. Devenney and children, Blanche, Andrew, Vance, Loe and Maude, attended the birthday celebration of the former’s [Mrs. Devenney’s] mother, Mrs. A. G. Greene, and Mr. R. L. D. Green at Boiling Springs.

Miss Maude Devenney, who is spending some time with her cousin at the Ora Mill of Shelby, spent Saturday night with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Devenney.
