The Twin Reporters

Twin Reporters, July 1, 1937

From The Courier, July 1, 1937

Cliffside, June 28. — Hello, friends. Many of the Cliffside people went to the beach last week-end. We hope everyone had a nice time, but we feel sorry for then if they got a blistered back.

Do you know what Sunday is? It is the Fourth of July. Many of the cities ‘round about, are planning celebrations for July 3, as the Fourth comes on Sunday. Guess it’s alright to have these celebrations, but pick up your newspaper the next day and find out the loss of lives it costs every year. Always, it seems, when people are celebrating a holiday more lives are taken and accidents happen in every way. People of today are more eager, it seems to want to go and have fun than ever before. We better sign off here before we get something started we can’t stop.

Miss Lalage Grigg spent last week in Greenville, visiting Miss Catherine Ponder.

Those visiting Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Dedmond, Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Flynn and daughter Joyce, of Spartanburg; Rev. and Mrs. Will Barrs, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Caldwell, of Forest City, and Mrs. Minerva Bland, of Shelby.

Miss Ruby Harris, of Alexander, was the week-end guest of Miss Mary Crowe.

Misses Mary and Ethel Guffey had their tonsils removed at the Shelby hospital Friday. They are getting along nicely.

Miss Janie Campbell, who has been ill for the past week, seems to be improving.

The friends of Miss Geneva Scruggs will be glad to know she is getting along nicely, after having an appendix operation at the Rutherford hospital.

Miss Lois Womack was the Sunday night supper guest of Miss Sue Crowe .

Mrs. Bessie Grigg is visiting her mother, Mrs. F. B. Grigg, of Shelby for a few days.
