The Twin Reporters

Twin Reporters, April 1, 1937

From The Courier, April 1, 1937

Cliffside, March 29.—Hello, Friends, Here we are back again. Yes, it’s the same old Twin Reporters, both in harness. Don’t put the blame on us though, for we are doing this job at the request of various people. To one person away out in Pattonville, Mo., we wish to thank you for your nice compliments and hope you will see the column from now on. (We are also glad to have you with us again.—Ed.)

Cliffside is still on the up and up. The Cliffside theatre is being remodeled on the inside and will seat more people after being finished. And it is said that there is only one empty house in Cliffside and it is located near the Roller Mill and has been spoken for. Another thing that makes the people very happy is the increase in wages. The mill is running three shifts and more machinery is being installed in different departments of the mill.

The revival meeting begins at the Methodist church Wednesday night, March 31. Preacher McLarty, a well known divine of Charlotte, will have charge of the services and Mr. Ishmael [Ishel] Parris, of Cliffside, will lead the singing. Everyone is invited to attend these services and get a blessing.

After being an invalid for 13 years Mrs. L. L. Wortman passed away at her home on River street on March 28. Though never attending a service Mrs. L. L. Wortman was a member of the Cliffside Baptist church. Our sympathy goes out to the bereved [bereaved] and loved ones.
