The Twin Reporters

Twin Reporters, Oct. 1, 1936

From The Courier, Oct. 1, 1936

Cliffside, Sept. 30—Miss Lois Davidson, of Limestone college, spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Davidson.

Misses Lalage Grigg and Helen Green, members of Lake Lure school faculty, were home for the week-end.

Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Self, of Asheville, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. A. T, Robinson [Roberson].

Misses Hazel Haynes and Rachel Fortune are taking a business course in Spartanburg.

Mr. H. Paul Bridges, of Leaksville, visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Boyce Bridges, during the week-end.

Barbara Jane, little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Winn, is improving after several days of illness.

Dr. J. C. Mills, our popular druggist has returned home from a visit to his brother at Lakehurst, N. J. Dr. Mills went especially to see the Hindenburg land. While there he was granted permission to go on the Hindenburg and says it was most interesting and wonderful experience. While in New York City he was accorded many courtesies and was given a ride in a naval air plane.

Mr. and Mrs. Tom Owensby have adopted into their home a little one year old baby boy–Earl Owensby.

Miss Myrtle [Wytle, maybe] Bridges will leave this week to take a business course in Charlotte.

The many friends of Mr. R. B. Watkins are glad to see him back on the job of cotton weigher, after some months of ill health. Mr. Watkins is on his thirty-sixth year’s work in Cliffside, having moved here before the foundation of the mill was laid–not the oldest man, but the oldest resident in Cliffside. But who wouldn’t work for a company that long.
