Cliffside, March 2— A large number attended both services at the Baptist church Sunday and enjoyed the services very much. The subject Sunday morning was, “Back to Bethel,” Genesis 35:1. Sunday night’s subject was, “The Great Judgment,” 2 Corinthians 5:10. All members are urged to be present Sunday morning as Rev. Hunnicutt will celebrate his sixth anniversary as pastor here.

Beginning March 9, the B. T. U. study course will begin and will continue through the week.

March 10, at 7:30 o’clock, Dr. E. B. Jenkins, of Rutherfordton will speak to the W. M. U. He will also show several pictures of the Holy Land. The public is cordially invited to attend.

March 16, Dr. Arthur Fox of Morristown Tenn., will begin a 10 days revival meeting at the Baptist church. Everyone is urged to attend these services which will begin about 7:30 each evening.

Mrs. J. M. Whisnant is improving after being ill for the past several days.

Mrs. John Kanipe, of Gastonia, is visiting her mother, Mrs. J. M. Whisnant.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Whisnant and family spent Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Whisnant.

Mr. and Mrs. Vall [Voll] Atkinson and daughters, Mary Sue and Hazel, of Spindale, visited Mr. and Mrs. John Atkinson the past week-end.

The many friends of Mrs. Hoyle Kendrick will be glad to know that she is improving from a recent illness.

Miss Kathaleen Harris has returned home after spending several months in New York.

Misses Ezma Earley and Ethel Harris entertained a large number of friends with a party Saturday night at the home of Miss Earley. Every one reported a nice time.

We are sorry to note that Mr. and Mrs. Ben Lail and family moved to Mooresville, Monday.

Mr. Rush Whisnant visited Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Whisnant, Sunday.

Miss Ethylyn [Etheleen] Keeter of Charlotte, spent the week-end with her parents Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Keeter.

Mr. James Hooker is sick with tonsillitis. We hope for him a speedy recovery.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Caroleen Baptist church for Mrs. Sam Daves who died at her home in Caroleen Monday morning. Burial was made in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Mrs. Daves lived to be 75 years old and was a well-known citizen. She had a host of friends and relatives.

Surviving are: Miss Minnie Daves, Miss Bell Daves and Mr. Jolley Daves at home; Mrs. Hoyle Allred, Caroleen; Mrs. S. R. Blackburn, Cliffside; Mrs. Boyce Bridges, Cliffside; and Mrs. Floyd Noble of Virginia.
