CLIFFSIDE HAS FOUR WEDDINGS
Many Visits During Holidays – Locals and Personals
Two Deaths Reported
Cliffside, Dec. 30— The wedding of Miss Daisy Lee Carpenter and Mr. Leon Padgett took place in Gaffney, S. C., Dec. 21. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Jessie Carpenter and graduated from Cliffside high school in the class of ’33. Mr. Padgett is the son of Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Padgett, of Ellenboro. Their many friends extend to them their best wishes for success and happiness.
Miss Ruby McDaniel and Mr. Ishmael [Ishel] White were married Saturday Dec. 21st, in Gaffney, S. C. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey McDaniel. Mr. White is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Sid White. After a short wedding trip they will be at home on Reservoir Street after Jan. 1st.
Mr. Willie Ramsey and Miss Mary Lou Bridges, were wedded Saturday Dec. 21st. Mrs. Ramsey is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tilman Bridges. Mr. Ramsey is the adopted son of Mr. and Mrs. Billie Ramsey, near Cliffside.
Miss Helen Green, of State Teachers’ College at Boone, is spending the holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. T. Greene.
Mr. Gerard Davidson, senior of Wofford College, in Spartanburg, is home for the holiday.
Rev. and Mrs. H. E. Stimson spent Christmas with their sons, Mr. Worth and Eugene Stimson in Concord.
Mr. R. C. Watkins and family, spent a few days with his parents during Christmas. They returned home on Christmas day to Belton, S. C.
Mr. Chas. H. Haynes visited his sister, Mrs. B. P. Caldwell and Mr. Caldwell in Marion during the holiday.
Misses Lalage Griggs [Grigg] and Merle Carpenter, of Asheville Normal, are home for the holidays.
Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Self, of Asheville, visited Mr. and Mrs. Austin Roberson during Christmas.
Cliffside has a beautiful mantle of snow twelve to fifteen inches deep.
Miss Bertha McCraw attended the funeral of her aunt, Mrs. Mims Scruggs on Friday, Dec. 27, at the State Line Baptist church. Mrs. Scruggs was about 82 years of age and was accidentally burned to death at her home in Chesnee, S.C.
The funeral of Mr. Andy Goode was conducted Monday at 11 o’clock at Race Path Baptist Church by Rev. T. M. Hester, pastor.
Miss Exie Yelton and Mr. James Price was [were] married in Gaffney, S.C. Dec 21. Mrs. Price is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Yelton of State Line community and a niece of Miss Susan Padgett of this place. Mr. Price is a prosperous farmer near Chesnee, S.C.
