Cliffside, Dec. 10 — The many friends of Mr. Lewis Scruggs will be grieved to learn of his death which occurred Thursday, Dec. 5. Funeral services conducted Friday at 1 o’clock at the residence two miles west of Cliffside by Rev. J. A. Hunnicutt. Burial was at Mt. Pleasant (Cleveland) church.

Mr. and Mrs. Summie Scruggs and Mrs. Littie [Lettie] Scruggs, of Charlotte, attended the funeral of Mr. Lewis Scruggs last week.

Mrs. Rachel Wood returned to her home at Ellenboro after spending several days with Mr. and Mrs. Chas. F. Neal.

Miss Frances Sisk of Forest City was the week-end guest of Miss Pauline Scruggs.

Miss Betty Simmons spent the week-end with her parents.

Misses Charity and Callie Crawley had as their Sunday afternoon guests Mr. and Mrs. Sam Crawley and daughters Mary and Hazel of Avondale, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bullard, Ralph and Emma Sue Hunnicutt of Spindale.

Miss Bunia White was the Sunday dinner guest of Miss Janie Campbell.

Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Keeter visited Mr. and Mrs. Ray Whisnant in Gaffney, S. C., Sunday.

Miss Martha Scruggs was the Sunday dinner guest of Miss Helen Sizemore.

Little Mary Sue Keeter was the Saturday night guest of Helen Sizemore.

Miss Myrtle Greene will speak to the Men’s Evangelistic club Sunday morning at 8:30.

Miss Sara Atchley spent the week-end visiting friends in Cliffside.

Mr. and Mrs. Harland McDaniel spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Dewey McDaniel.

Mrs. Tom Crow, Bud, and Emma Sue and Miss Lois Womack spent the week-end with Mrs. Crowe‘s [Crow’s] mother of Marion. Mrs. Crow and Bud remained with her mother who is ill.
