Cliffside, Oct. 9—Mr. George White who has been ill for the past two weeks is slowly improving.

Misses Eula Belle and Leola Sizemore, of Cliffside, were the Sunday afternoon guests of Miss Sara Atchely, of Spindale.

Mrs. M. E. Daniel and son Barret and Mrs. Walter Daniel, of Forest City, were the Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Scruggs and family.

Miss Jessie Lemmons of Forest City, was the week-end guest of friends in Cliffside.

Mr. and Mrs. Dewey McDaniel and children were the Sunday guests of relatives in Shelby.

Mr. and Mrs. G. F. McMurray and children, Mr. F. L. Byers and Lucy Byers spent the day Sunday visiting relatives near Rutherfordton.

Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Davidson visited in Spartanburg, Sunday.

The Judson union of the B. T. U. was entertained Friday night at the home of their leader, Mr. Chas. McCurry. Those enjoying the occasion were: Mr. and Mrs. Chas, McCurry; Misses Grace McCurry, Lois Womack, Lyndall Clayton, Emma Sue Crow, Janie Campbell and Eula Bell Sizemore; Mesdames Clyma Ware, Maurice Guffey, Frank Mashburn, Albert Lancaster, Mr. John Padgett and Mr. G. A. Dula.

Misses Jean Freeman and Elizabeth McLaughlin, former teachers of Cliffside high school, were the week-end guests of our present teachers.

Mrs. Kelly Moore visited in Forest City, Monday.

Mr. C. B. Edwards and Lee Duncan are in Nashville, Tenn., on business.

Rev. H. E. Stimson will attend the annual Methodist Conference next week. The conference is being held in Salisbury. Friends are hoping for his return to Cliffside.

Sunday morning Mr. and Mrs. Arie Greene visited their small son Jimmy who is in the Orthopedic hospital in Gastonia. They were accompanied to Gastonia by Mrs. Frank Greene, Miss Geneva Scruggs and Mr. Rush Greene.

Mr. Esper Brown, a graduate of the radio school in Chicago, has opened a shop in the store of Robert C. Hawkins, a dealer in Philco radios. Mr. Brown is fully prepared to adjust and repair your radio. He will give you prompt service and satisfaction. The name of the new firm is Brown and Hawkins.

Mr. Joe Dedmond has accepted a position in the store of Robt. C. Hawkins.

Mr. and Mrs. Guy Frye and family visited Mrs. Fry’s mother, Mrs. Rector in Greenville, S. C.

The seventh grade will give the chapel program Friday. All parents and friends are invited to attend this program at 8:35, in the school auditorium.

Miss Clara Atkinson and Miss Macie Bridges spent the week-end in Gaffney.

Miss Pantha Smart was the dinner guest of Miss J. L. Sizemore Sunday afternoon.

Mrs. Fannie Bridges of Ellenboro is visiting her sister, Mrs. G. E. Moore.

Mr. and Mrs. Mose Simmons visited relatives in Spindale Sunday.

The revival began at the Baptist church Monday evening at 7:30 o’clock and will continue through a period of about ten days. Mr. Monroe Parker of the Bob Jones college in Cleveland, Tenn., is conducting the services, Everyone is invited to attend. This meeting is sponsored by the men’s evangelistic club.

Mr. and Mrs. Hue [Hub] Crawley and family of Spindale were the week-end guests of Misses Charity and Callie Crawley.

Cliffside School News

8-B Home Room had charge of the chapel program Friday morning, October 11. Scripture was read by Edith McSwain, and Julia Davis and Beth Hawkins sang a duet, “Sally and Si.” A play in the form of an old fashioned school was presented by Hazel Stacey, Jack Lawing, Mozelle Fox, Minnie Sue Haynes, Loree Harrill, Agnes Camp, Marjorie Harris, Beth Hawkins, Edith McSwain, Martha Scruggs, Rose Womack.

Parents-Teachers’ Association met at 7:30 o’clock Monday evening in the Town Hall.
