New highway work progressing fast

Island Ford, Aug. 19—Work on the new highway from State line to the road from Sandy Mush is progressing rapidly. This new route will be the shortest from the County seat and Forest City to Chesnee and from there to other points in South Carolina. It will cut off nine miles and this will be a great saving in time and gas to all motorists who have to use the present route via Cliffside.
To Be 28 Feet Wide.
When finished the road will be twenty-eight feet in width and it is understood that it will be sand-clayed. It has been well laid out and all the necessary culverts have been put in or will be at an early date. This new highway will link up with Route 207 to Forest City and when the road now under construction to South Mountain and the Burke County line is finished Rutherford County will have a splendid highway from the south end of the county to the northern limit.
