Tomb Builders 7

Tomb Builder

7 A noticible feature is the road running along the cemetery. Was it called Beason Road in those days? The crated parts of the tomb were offloaded from the rail cars onto a ramp built over the road. Note the power or telephone lines. The raw earth embankment was later shored up with the beautiful rock wall that still stands.

Another look at the sliding track made of lumber.

Blurred blowup of two men in distance.

Blowup of cluster of gravestones.

Two men are watching, or perhaps supervising the installation. One seems to be pointing out some feature hidden from our view.

A good detective could probably visit the cemetery and identify some of these tombstones.

Over the decades the Haynes gravesite has been a favorite background for Sunday strollers' photos. It was—and is—a reminder to generations of the great man's role in Cliffside's legacy.
