Florence Haynes Jenkins
Florence Haynes Jenkins
1874-1954

The oldest child of R.R. Haynes, Florence was born in a two-story log house at Ferry (near Cliffside). She attended Mrs. Kate Shipp’s Seminary in Lincolnton. In later years, Florence attended the All-Healing Springs Boarding School near Kings Mountain, then the Normal College (WCUNC) in Greensboro. Married Zebulin Jenkins. They had seven children.

Robert E. Haynes
Robert Edgar Haynes
1876-1930

Born in the log house at Ferry, Robert was R.R. Haynes second child, the oldest son. He attended Baird’s Military Academy in Charlotte, and married Fannie Mallard, with whom he had four children. His second wife was Mary Lattimore, who bore him two children who both died as infants.

Charles H. Haynes
Charles Henry Haynes
1878-1958

Third child of R.R. Haynes, Charles was born in the log cabin in Ferry. Attended Baird’s Military Academy in Charlotte. Following his father’s death in 1917, Charles, by his father’s own instructions, took charge of the Haynes’ interests and managed them until Cliffside Mills was bought out by Cone Mills in 1948. Late in life, Charles married Catherine Culpepper (Jul 31, 1903 – May 18, 1990). They had no children.

Sara Haynes Love
Sara Haynes Love
1880-1948

Sara, fourth child of R.R. Haynes, was born while the family lived in Shelby. She attended Mrs. Kate Shipp’s Seminary in Lincolnton, N.C., then the Normal College (WCUNC) in Greensboro. She married Robert Andrew Love. They had four children
