The Photographer’s Father

Richard Hames, the father of William Edgar Hames.
After shooting the family group in the yard, Will took his camera and turned to the house, to photograph his father. He chose to pose the old man in the parlor (with that attractive wallpaper as a background). Almost as an afterthought, Will took one of the watermelons and put it on his daddy’s lap.
Old man Richard thought “pitcher takin’” was just some foolishness that his son would someday outgrow. He wished Will would come to his senses, and come back home from Cliffside to help run the farm.
