Faded Clippings, Obituaries compiled from Carolina Newspapers.

Faded Clippings

We’ve curated 265 obituaries from the years 1903 to 2017, from various newspapers and clippings contributed by individuals. A few aren’t exactly obituaries, but merely short announcements of one’s death, like this one from Nov. 1, 1919.

Mr. E. B. Murry, a prominent citizen of Cliffside, was found dead in City Park there Saturday morning. He is supposed to have died of apoplexy.

Most of the older ones were clipped from newspapers.com’s issues of the Burlington Times-News, Gaffney Ledger, Charlotte Observer, Gastonia Gazette, Forest City Courier, Greenville News and the Asheville Citizen. Some from more recent years were obits published on funeral home websites.

From the sidebar menu you can choose to search by a person’s name name, or browse through the nine pages of thumbnails, which, for the most part, are arranged alphabetically.
