The Late R. R. Haynes

The Late R. R. Haynes Of Cliffside

From The Spartanburg Herald, Jun. 29, 1922

The Cliffside Mills, at Cliffside, recognized as among the greatest gingham mills of America, is an enterprise, a monument to the ability and the energy of a native of the very hills upon which the great mill stands. Within the past week memory of the man, R. R. Haynes, has been awakened by the dedication of the R. R. Haynes Memorial Building at Cliffside. A great crowd gathered at Cliffside last Saturday night to pay tribute of respect to the great pioneer manufacturer of a region. He had not been dead very long, just a few years and is succeeded by his able son, who is recognized as capable of meeting the responsibilities of great enterprises, but his people were eager to make recognition of his achievements.
