Cliffside News Starts Next Week
Through an arrangement perfected with Mr. Charles H. Haynes last week, the Courier has set aside a page in this paper to the exclusive use of Cliffside, which will be known as the Cliffside News page, and publication of the Cliffside News will begin next week. This arrangement practically gives our hustling neighbor city a local newspaper of its own, edited by local talent and managed and controlled by its own corps of talented editors.
The Cliffside News will have as chief editor, Mr. B. E. Roach, who has been the valued correspondent of the Courier at Cliffside, and who is a splendid writer. As associate editor he will have Prof. Clyde A. Erwin, principal of the noted Cliffside school, who will add great weight to the editorial staff of the News. Both of these gentlemen are too well known to need any words of praise or recommendation from the editor of the Courier. We will just content ourselves with saying that Cliffside is to be congratulated upon having these two splendid gentlemen at the head of the new enterprise. They will give the town a representation in the press that will add much to the well being and future growth and prosperity of the community.
We hope every citizen of the town will give them loyal support in getting the news of the town and community. Help them to boost your home town. Give them the news, and don’t wait for these gentlemen to waste valuable time in looking up the happenings in your neighborhood. Leave your news and subscriptions with Editor Roach, and help in the good work of promoting what is practically a local paper for Cliffside.
The Courier is more than glad to offer this page to our neighboring city, and fully believes that it will redound to the good of both Cliffside and Forest City and will do much to build up a cordial and neighborly feeling between these splendid Rutherford county towns.
This arrangement with the Courier continued for several years.
