The Bypass
In the mid and late 1960’s the town of Cliffside was changed beyond anything anyone could imagine. A wide swath was gouged out of one of the residential districts, completely eliminating Reservoir Street, most of Church Street and a number of the numbered streets to the east of North Main.
It was a massive project, costing millions, and lasting more than a year, yet we’ve found only a few dozen photos of the work. All of them were taken, of course, by Roy Lee Harris. The ones we’ve found in his collection (so far) were made in just a few trips to the site.
