Stairway to the rope tower. In recent years a multitude of pigeons have had their way with this area, so we chose not to venture up the stairs. The scene was shot from near the office of the original spinning room on the fourth floor of the mill.
The rope tower, photographed from the north end of the Finishing Plant. In the earliest days, when the mill was powered by ropes, belts and pulleys, towers like this one were used to guide and direct the ropes. You have to admire these elegant architectural features.
