Fresh Content, With Lots of Photos

April 13, 2017 by Reno

Here’s what’s new. Under Galleries look for (under Groups) Churches, School, and Community. Under other Gallery categories you’ll find Little League Teams, Duke Steam Station, Demolition, Aerials and Jim Scancarelli’s Model of “Cliffside.”

Go to the Society section to find stories and pictures of the 2010 Clockwork Restoration and the 2011 Tower/Clockface Restoration

And we changed the Front Page panoply of phenomenal photos, that glide as if by magic from right to left.

The Cliffside Clock Tower

Our town clock was installed in 1920, and for over half a century tolled the quarter hours from atop the R. R. Haynes Memorial Building. When the building was razed in the late 1970s this new tower for the old timepiece was erected on the site of Mr. Haynes' original Cliffside home. Although the property of the county, the Cliffside Historical Society has assumed responsibility for maintaining this beloved antique.
