Big, Big Addition

March 11, 2017 by Reno

There’s a wealth of reading in the Cliffside in World War II section, just added to the site. There are a lot of stories and photos of those who served in that great conflict.

We’ve revived Echoes, Cliffside High’s yearbook for 1940, and Old Gold and Black, the yearbook for 1937. Also revealing its new face is the Cliffside Story circa 1923.

And we’ve put a handful of fresh photos on the Front Page slider, several of people you may recognize, fondly remember or faintly recall.

A large rock

Finally, if by chance you have any comments about Remember Cliffside, you can leave them under this rock (where they’ll never be seen) — or you can make an entry in the Guest Book (recommended).

The Cliffside Clock Tower

Our town clock was installed in 1920, and for over half a century tolled the quarter hours from atop the R. R. Haynes Memorial Building. When the building was razed in the late 1970s this new tower for the old timepiece was erected on the site of Mr. Haynes' original Cliffside home. Although the property of the county, the Cliffside Historical Society has assumed responsibility for maintaining this beloved antique.
