Additions on Oct. 24, 2016

October 24, 2016 by Reno

New items on the site include three photo galleries (the Gathering, Cliffside Day and our old locomotive #110). And there’s a teaser about Don Bailey’s new book, Cliffside High School, and an announcement about the Roy Lee Harris 2017 Cliffside Calendar. For the links to all these, look on the Front Page.

Also on the Front is a large (you can’t miss it) photo of an array of devices displaying our site. You might enjoy reading how this new WordPress version came to be.

And, I’ve finished restyling the old Suggested Reading list (over 40 books and counting) and shortly it’ll be updated with many new titles. Find the list on the Odds & Ends sidebar menu.

Hey, tell all your friends about the new Remember Cliffside, and tell us (Contact Us, or Guest Book) how we’re doing!

Look, read and enjoy.

Reno & Betty

The Cliffside Clock Tower

Our town clock was installed in 1920, and for over half a century tolled the quarter hours from atop the R. R. Haynes Memorial Building. When the building was razed in the late 1970s this new tower for the old timepiece was erected on the site of Mr. Haynes' original Cliffside home. Although the property of the county, the Cliffside Historical Society has assumed responsibility for maintaining this beloved antique.
