Kids and Car at the Old Footbridge
That was Ealon Houser's old Pontiac and the time was in the early 1940's. The kids are mostly Housers with a Lowery and a Beason added for flavor. The scene is the town side of the old footbridge that spanned the creek over to Academy Street. At the time, the Housers lived off to the left near the Sulphur Well. Betty's genuine Indian head-dress probably came from Cos Hamrick's store. Clockwise: Betty Houser, Kay Lowery in the headlock, Billy Houser, Buddy Houser, and Doris Beason.
Now to the puzzler: What is that winged ornament attached to the license tag? It looks very familiar but we can't place it. Is it an advertisement? Something to do with the war effort?
