Drive-thru
Who said new and innovative things didn't come to Cliffside? Of course they did. Marvels, for example, such as drive-thru service at the Haynes Bank. Here Nancy Lucas, the wife of Rev. John Lucas, is opening a savings account for her young son, Stephen, in the summer of 1960. That's Polly (Mrs. Harry) Hawkins inside the window. Mrs. Lucas just happened to drive up as Roy Lee Harris was shooting stills for some advertising campaign the bank was planning. The Lucas family lived in Ciffside for 14 years, from 1959 to 1972, when Rev. Lucas was pastor at the Baptist Church.
