Odds and Ends

Mud Cut Derby

East 5th Avenue, or Mud Cut, was the perfect hill for racing. And home-made racers were the perfect vehicles for a day of competition. This was about 1949 when an event of this size would attract a reporter/photographer team all the way from Shelby! Sam Davis describes the races in one of his Flashbacks.

Clipping provided by George Haynes.
