Helps To Win War, Gathering Scrap for U. S.

Helps In War — Mrs. Sally Scruggs, widow of Edward Scruggs of Cliffside, has contributed in winning the war. She has collected 2,000 pounds of scrap iron, 1,500 razor blades, 500 pounds of zinc and toothpaste tubes and 50 pounds of fat. She started her drive for victory with the attack on Pearl Harbor and is still working to defeat the Axis and the Japs. She is 76, the mother of five living children, 25 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Two of her sons served in World War I, one of them overseas. She has three grandsons in the armed forces now, two somewhere in the Pacific and one in Texas.

This is the mother of Jim Scruggs and grandmother of Harry, Nellie Jo, Ed, Ruby, Sara Lee, Lib, Nancy and Jane Scruggs.
