Dedication Of The Haynes Memorial
Building
From The Rutherford County Sun,
Jun. 29, 1922
A large crowd gathered at Cliffside
Saturday night to witness the dedication of the handsome R. R. Haynes
memorial building
and to do homage to the citizen of whom the county at large is proud
to honor and call a native son—the late R. R. Haynes. The life
of Mr. Haynes is an inspiration to our young men and serves to show that
in free America any young man with the proper equipment of will power
and energy has his chance to reach the greatest heights of success—all
dependent upon that within the individual.
Mr. Haynes built well and set in motion ideals that will go on and on
in the after years and prove a blessing, not only to the people of Cliffside,
but to the county and state. The magnificent school building and the
edifice dedicated to his memory Saturday night are only expressions of
his ideals, carefully carried out under the direction of his noble and
loving son, Mr. Chas. H. Haynes.
The community building will do a great good in Cliffside. Here the different
ones will gather for recreation and social pleasure and the human companionship
and the worthy impulses and high ideals gathered will promote a healthy
growth for better citizenship. Friendships will be formed, recreation
will be had and all will be the better for having been presented the
handsome building for their welfare.
Rutherford county and the state appreciates what has been done, and
will be done, in the carrying out of the ideals of the late R. R. Haynes.
