#012 Engine #110
The sign on the tree says “Biggerstaff for County Commissioner.” That year Shaw Biggerstaff, one of the trainmen, was running for that office. Could it be a coincidence that a campaign poster just happened to be on a lonely tree down by the tracks where practically no one would see it or was this photo staged?
Colleen Biggerstaff, widow of Odell, points out that it was not Shaw who ran for the office. The candidate was Joe (or “Jobie,” as we knew him), who at one time operated the dry cleaners. Jobie and Shaw were both nephews of Odell.
