#omt078 - The old dye house area, on the northwest side of the building, now a storage/junk room. The dye house held huge stainless steel vats into which was placed great quantities of yarn to be colored. #omt088 - Part of the old dye house. Here raw stock was dyed then drained through stacks of these slabs of stone. In olden days, the resulting drainage (a nasty mix of brightly colored—and undoubtedly toxic—chemicals) was pumped directly into the river from a pipe at the end of the coffer dam (see #omt230a).
