The
mill and the “lake”

Never did the water look this blue, and it was rarely, if ever, called a lake. It was referred to as the "pond," and was, on its best day, the color of chocolate. As for that belching smokestack, each morning you would have to sweep the soot off your porch, and scour it about once a week.
