The mill before the finishing plant was built

The mill before the finishing plant was built
From Don Bailey collection

The small print says “40,00 spindles, 1500 looms, 900 employees, output 70,000 yards daily of staple and fancy ginghams.” That's almost 40 miles of cloth, a piece that would reach from Cliffside to, say, Gastonia. Could that be correct? If so, they must have kept the rails hot hauling that stuff out of town.
