Photographed
from a rare vantage point, the south end of the old part of the mill, the
“manufacturing plant,” prior to construction of the finishing plant.
Note the two optimists on the right holding up a tiny sign for a camera that
must be a hundred yards away. What do you suppose it said,“I love Cliffside?”
Or “Help, we are being held hostage in a cotton mill?” Does anyone
know what use was made of those small white structures?
We've
heard from both Myles Haynes, Jr. and R.G. Watkins that these little buildings
held fire-fighting equipment: hoses, nozzles, axes, etc.
